How do you find out if someone is telling you the truth?

People lie all the time! Is it really a bad thing though? Do we even want to know the truth half the time? I feel like most of the times that I have weaseled the truth out of someone I was much less satisfied than I should have been. The truth is good so much of the time as well though, we seek it out for more purposes than that we simply do not like being lied to. The truth can be enlightening, it can lift burdens off ourselves.

Yet, still how do we know if we are actually receiving the truth? We seem to be lied to on a daily basis, by the government, by our parents, by our friends, by the cafeteria workers even! I think finding out if someone is being truthful with you is a near impossible thing to do. How do you interrogate someone about whether they are lying to you without offending them? You almost cant, so I think there is no easy way to determine if someone is lying to you, it is just something you have to decide whether or not you really want to know the truth and at what cost it may come at.

How do you know what to do when you don't know what to do?

This is such a difficult question...first I would need to think of a situation in which I wouldn't know what to do which might again be difficult, because if I am capable of thinking of the situation, would I not be able to think of the solution?

So, what I have come up with is what it would be like for someone who is not only not Catholic but not religious at all to attend a Catholic Mass. There are a lot of traditions in a Catholic Mass, very specific times to do very specific things. So, what would you do if you had absolutely no idea what was going on?

I think the rational person would try to observe their surroundings as much as possible and try to follow along, whether or not they understand what they are doing, they still are participating and making the situation not only less awkward for themselves but less uncomfortable for all those around them. I can only image what it would be like for me, being Catholic, to go to say a Hindi Temple. My mind would be reeling with questions and concerns for what to do with myself. But I would try my best to simply fit in, and respect the customs that were occurring around me.
